How to prevent the collapse of a metal shed in snow country

The winter is in full swing and most roofs in the northern states as well as all of Canada are covered in snow. While most of these roofs don’t leak when it rains, they will leak in the winter, when the snow and ice are on the roof. Trying to remove ice dam all by yourself can be very dangerous, so to help prevent your metal shed collapsing here are the ways how you can do it.

In countries where there is snow fall, people should build houses made of wood and the roof top should be metal or asbestos made. If the roof top of the house in a snow country is build in horizontal or parallel to earth (flat surface) then there are chances of snow deposit on roof top and if there is enough snow deposit, it could collapse the shed as well as the house completely.

So, to avoid this situation; people in snow countries should mount the shed in slanting direction on the roof top of the house. Whenever there are snow falls, all snow deposits will fall to the ground due to slanting of shed thus preventing it from collapsing.

Moreover, the metal shed should be supported by long wooden blocks or iron rods beneath it. This will make the shed even more strong from being collapsing. Also, the metal shed should be periodically monitored that there are no rust or corrosion in the shed. If you find any rust in the metal shed then do not forget to give a paint coating on the shed on a bright sunny day. This will prevent the shed from being collapsed.

Instead of the above mentioned measures, periodically check the level of ice dam on the shed. If enough ice gets deposited in the shed this can collapse the roof. So, to avoid this situation snow should be cleared by wooden mob periodically from the shed. Condition gets worsened when there are heavy snow fall so you have to be aware in these circumstances.

If you follow all the preventive measures mentioned above then it is sure you could prevent your metal shed from being collapsing.
